To Our Members of Congress —
Stand Up For Humanity and International Law In Gaza!
As constituents, we call upon you, our elected representatives, to reflect the views of the overwhelming majority of Americans, who are appalled by the ongoing Israeli massacre of civilians.
The attack by Hamas on October 7 was a war crime under international law. But one crime does not justify another. It does not justify 18 months of Israeli attacks on civilians - more than 50,000 Palestinians dead, the majority of whom are women and children. It does not justify the relentless bombing of homes, schools, hospitals, and mosques, or Israel’s starvation siege that has stopped the delivery of humanitarian aid by preventing the delivery of all food, medicine, water, and fuel to desperate people. And now, Israel has broken the ceasefire, resumed its bombing, and is intent on ethnically cleansing Gaza of its Palestinian population. The Trump administration is funding weapons that enable these crimes, which are condemned worldwide.
Congress must also say NO!
For too long, Congress has acquiesced and enabled this humanitarian catastrophe.
We therefore call upon you now to —
- Stop funding more weapons to Israel.
- Co-sponsor legislation that restores funding for UNRWA* - In the House: H.R. 2411. In the Senate: S.898.
- Demand that the Israeli blockade of humanitarian aid stops now.
- Insist on an immediate, permanent ceasefire!
*UNRWA - United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. This U.N. organization is the single most capable organization to deliver urgently needed humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. The United States, alone among nations, has stopped funding UNRWA.
