We demand:
ICE Out of New York. Stop collaborating with ICE and protect our immigrant communities. New York must remain a sanctuary for all.
New York Out of Fossil Fuels. Commit to a rapid, just transition to 100% renewable energy. No new fossil fuel infrastructure, and divest from fossil fuels now.
Release Mahmoud Khalil, Rümeysa Öztürk, Mohsen Mahdawi and cease targeting student protesters.
Release Kilmar Abrego Garcia and cease the targeting of all immigrant communities regardless of status.

In this documentary piece, Carl Hallberg shares news, stories, and sketches from the land as he traces his journey east from the Mississippi watershed to the Hudson River basin. With help from some found objects, Carl searches for new relationship with the Earth, and wonders how to anchor a resistance to fascism in the reciprocal love that we find in the ecosystems around us. How can we maintain a commitment to pacifism and nonviolence in a time of genocide and Luigi Mangione style heroism?

New Sanctuary Coalition meets every Thursday from 5:30 – 7:30 at the Brooklyn Friends Meeting House, 110 Schermerhorn Street, Brooklyn.  We are activists working out ways to protect communities, including the immigrant community, and the LGB and trans communities, from this administration’s policies.

Many immigrants facing deportation cannot afford or find legal assistance and we wish to aid them to the best of our abilities in their quest to avoid deportation.  Having those who understand court instructions and forms to work with them will greatly increase their chances of receiving permission to remain in the U.S.

Special speaker: Josh Drill is a peace builder pursuing a master’s degree in Strategic Communications at Columbia University. Josh was a speaker at IT’S TIME - the biggest peace event in Israel’s history. He has been active at Columbia, building coalitions for peace and a shared, just, future. Josh will speak of his work and connection with Mohsen Mahdwai. All welcome, but please do not bring flags.

Tues. Apr. 22, 12 noon: Earth Day Rally for the NY HEAT Act Rally on steps of City Hall in support of passing the NY HEAT Act. The NY HEAT Act is the top climate priority of New York's environmental movement, with its promise of lower energy bills while eliminating massive subsidies to the fracked gas industry.
