A federal judge has ordered that Mahmoud Khalil's case be transferred to a New Jersey court, although he is still being held at an immigration detention facility in Louisiana. See update from Center for Constitutional Rights. We need to continue calling forcefully for his transfer to a NJ facility and his immediate release.

A letter calling for Khalil's release was signed by 105 House Democrats. However signatures were missing from Brooklyn reps Dan Goldman and Hakeem Jeffries. If Goldman or Jeffries represents you, please call them 202-224-3121 to let them know your outrage that they have not spoken out on this egregious denial of the right of free speech, while they claim to be champions of civil rights and due process. If Velazquez or Clarke represents you, please thank them. (Note the strong statement which Yvette Clarke issued.) Phone calls are the most effective, but you can also use this action tool from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).
