"Slavery By Another Name" is a documentary first shown in 2012. PBS wrote that it “Challenges one of Americans’ most cherished assumptions: the belief that slavery in this country ended with the Emancipation Proclamation. The film tells how, even as chattel slavery came to an end in 1865, 1000s of African Americans were pulled back into forced labor with shocking force and brutality.”

Michael Klare is professor emeritus of peace and world security studies at Hampshire College, and a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Arms Control Association in Washington, D.C., and defense correspondent of The Nation magazine.
